Near Eventide wasn't our first name, and who's to say it will be our last?! We started out as 'Unchanged'. We played our first time at a dinner-meeting for MCS as 'Unchanged'. That went really good for the first time we ever played outside of the church. So we started thinking, "Unchanged...What does that really even mean?" So we changed it to something like "2 blocks, take a left" or something like that. After that, we got the name "Minus Me", everyone agreed, but it just wasn't catchy enough. It did mean something though, and thats why we liked it."Minus me, and let God take control of your life." After changing it another time, we got "Near Eventide". That name has stuck. We've been Near Eventide for over a year. As stated in the dictionary it means "the latter part of the day (the period of decreasing daylight from late afternoon until nightfall.)" Or you could look at it, simpily, as "the end of the day". We take this and use it as a metaphor for the second coming of Christ. The Bible clearly states that we are living in the 'end days' and Jesus will be coming back soon... or this world 'day' is close to coming to an end.... it is *drum role*..Near Eventide!! --Cecil Sanders |
