*How we originated*
In the spring of 2000 I was talking to Shawn on the phone, and he said "whenever you get back from Georgia, we need to start a band!!" So I agreed that would be really cool. Shawn, Christina, Amy and I had all been in different music groups at church since I had started attending the church in 1998. Shawn said, "that guy Jay, he is really good at the guitar, and he can be in our band too!" When I got back, Karl joined cause he was already good at the bass, and Amy was always playing a guitar and Christina was always singing. So we started and haven't stopped! It's been a lot of fun playing at all the places we have played. And We thank God for the opportunities to play.

Near Eventide wasn't our first name, and who's to say it will be our last?! We started out as 'Unchanged'. We played our first time at a dinner-meeting for MCS as 'Unchanged'. That went really good for the first time we ever played outside of the church. So we started thinking, "Unchanged...What does that really even mean?" So we changed it to something like "2 blocks, take a left" or something like that. After that, we got the name "Minus Me", everyone agreed, but it just wasn't catchy enough. It did mean something though, and thats why we liked it."Minus me, and let God take control of your life."  After changing it another time, we got "Near Eventide". That name has stuck. We've been Near Eventide for over a year. As stated in the dictionary it means "the latter part of the day (the period of decreasing daylight from late afternoon until nightfall.)"  Or you could look at it, simpily, as "the end of the day". We take this and use it as a metaphor for the second coming of Christ. The Bible clearly states that we are living in the 'end days' and Jesus will be coming back soon... or this world 'day' is close to coming to an end.... it is *drum role*..Near Eventide!!
